"WE ARE..."

PARKING - We generally try to park in Lot 13, as close to the stadium as possible.  Parking  permissions in Lot 13 have changed this year; we'll keep you posted as the season progresses.  Lot 13 is Northwest of the stadium and right off of Park Ave.  There are also General Admission parking lots Northeast (off Fox Hollow) and Southeast of the Stadium.

Weather -  Accuweather.com is where we get most of our weather info - and it's based right in State College!  Click here for the current forecast for University Park!

PENN STATE v Buffalo

UoB, along with Victor E., their mascot, sport blue and white uniforms - so no... um... just make sure your blue is navy, okay?

Kick off is at 12pm - so that means that the early morning tailgating begins at 7am.  We plan to park in Lot 13 in the section of the lot closer to the stadium - for more detailed directions, email us for cell phone numbers.

The theme for the tailgate is "Pro Lions" - we'll be serving regional favorites from the different cities in which former Nittany Lions now play professional football.

As always, all are welcome - just drop us a note so we can plan accordingly.

PENN STATE v florida international - September 1, 2007.  Gametime is 12pm - and parking lots open at 7am - we'll be there when they open the gates and, as usual, we're planning on parking in Lot 13 - the parking maps have changed again this year - we expect to park in the section of the lot closer to the stadium - look for the PSU flag (ha ha ha ha)- for more detailed directions, email us for cell phone numbers.

Currently, Accuweather's forecast is promising - but after last year's opening game, we've learned to be ready for ANYTHING!

All are welcome - Let us know if you'll be attending so we can plan accordingly.

PENN STATE v northwestern - OKTOBERFEST 2006!

Guten tag!

Join us as we welcome the Nittany Lions back to Happy Valley and celebrate Oktoberfest 2006 on Saturday, September 30th!

The Lions host the northwestern wildcats at 3:30pm - the game will be televised on ABC.  The wildcats have weathered a difficult season/ year already, but this is Big Ten Football and the Lions need to be ready.  northwestern has a young and agile quarterback - named Kafka - here's hoping the Lion's D will Metamorphosize his backside.

We will be erving a huge variety of German fare and tailgating favorites and we also have some fun activities planned!

Accuweather's current forecast is clouds and sun with a high of 60 degrees (Real Feel 57) - and at night it's going to be in the 40s - there's a chance of thunderstorms - no accumulation is in the
forecast - but it's best to be prepared...

The parking lots open at 8am - we will be there waiting in line when they do - Our goal, as always, is lot 13 - you will be able to find us by looking for the Diesel flags and the submarine flag topper.

If you think you may be in town, let us know a.s.a.p. so we can plan accordingly.  If you need directions or more information, you can email us or check out the diesel website.

Auf der Löwe!

PENN STATE v michigan

PSU hosts the michigan wolverines on October 14th for a good old fashioned grudge match.  Kick off is at 8pm (ABC) - gates open at 8am -

Accuweather's current forecast is sunny and chilly - quite chilly - High 50, Low 38 (real feel 29 - yes, 29) - wear layers - it'll be quite cold once game time rolls around.  Be sure to bring a white shirt (shawl, sheet, trash bag) to wear into the game - as they've declared a White Out!

We plan to park in Lot 13 - last week we were in our properly designated area - but who knows what will happen (seriously, anyone?) - Look for the Penn State flag (still working on customizing) and email us for cell numbers if you don't already have them.

We'll be serving up pub favorites from the British Isles all day long - including hot roast beef, meat pies, potatoes, desserts and much more.  As always, all are welcome and contributions are appreciated but not necessary.  Let us know if you'll be around and we'll plan accordingly.

We hope to see you there!

2 the Lion!

PENN STATE v. youngstown state

Penn State squares off against the penguins of youngstown state on Saturday, September 16th at 3:30pm.  The game will be televised on ESPNU.

Ernesto resulted in a change of plans last time - but we are confident that we will be in Lot 13 (or nearby) for this game.  Lots open at 8am - and we're planning to be there early!

We've been collecting wines again and we thought we'd bring some to taste with a variety of complementary foods.

As always, all are welcome, please email if you'll be attending or have any questions.

It's finally time for football season!!!! On September 2nd Penn State hosts the university of akron and zippy the kangaroo (he's been the mascot since 1953 - apparently the kangaroo, and, as you'll see in a future email, the penguin, are indigenous to ohio). Kick off is at 3:30pm and the game will be televised on ESPN 2. The Zips sport blue and old gold uniforms - so break out the silver jewelry/accessories/riveted jeans -

Hurricane Ernesto is due to be over Central Pennsylvania at 2pm on Saturday with rain beginning Friday night and lasting into Saturday evening.  If you are traveling to the game, be sure to invest in some rain gear.

Weather permitting, we will be tailgating in Lot 13 the lots open at 8am.  Our plan is to grill up some seafood.  Plans may change last minute due to the rain; if you are planning to stop by the tailgate, please email us for contact information for updates.

There is a ton of chatter on the internet about pre-season rankings. Most pundits rank PSU in the high teens (#19 on AP poll). There are a lot of questions to be answered: offensive line, D-line, young secondary, young wideouts, no tight end, role of running game, and, of course, Mr. Morelli.

According to Joe, akron is a tough team - they have a good running back and a great quarterback - never underestimate or look past an opponent (this maybe the most difficult week, ever, to keep true to that adage, but we can try).

2006 Blue White Game.  April 22, 2006 - Kick off is at 2pm.  Parking lots open at 8am - we'll be there soon after.  We will be meeting up at the Nittany Lion Inn to drive over to the stadium (if you're interesting in joining the convoy please email us and we'll send you the deatils).   For this game we will be parking in the lot next to the West stands (green on the map below).  Okay, I know, I know, tailgating on pavement isn't really tailgating, but the kids seem to like it, so we comprimise (once a year!).

2006 ORANGE BOWL - Penn State faces off against the florida state seminoles on January 3, 2006 at 8pm.  The game will be broadcast on ABC.  This is the LIons' first post season trip to Miami in 20 years.

PENN STATE v wisconsin

Can you believe it? It's the final home game and tailgate of the 2005 football season. November 5th is Senior Day at Beaver Stadium and Penn State hosts the university of wisconsin. Kickoff is at 3:30pm - and the game will be televised on ABC.

Feeling a little nostalgic, we're planning a Memories tailgate - featuring recipes from "the olden days" such as: Bloody Marys; Hot Roast Beef Sandwiches; Chuck's Cheese Sauce; Uncle Al's Burnt Keilbasa; Chili; Brownies; and, so much more!

Bucky and the other badgers will be clad in their red and white - many, strangely enough, in overalls.

This is a big game for the Lions. PSU and uw sit atop the Big Ten Standings - This game could very well determine the winner of the Big Ten this year (the sports writers' heads must be exploding) and which team will be the Big Ten's BCS representative in January.

As usual we plan to park in Lot 13 or Lot 12 (see map), as close to the front of the lot(s) as possible.

All are welcome. We just ask that you comment here or send us an email so we can prepare accordingly. We'll be sending out our "regular" email a little closer to gameday; if you'd like to be added to our email list, please email us at coach@2thelion.com - and check the WebLog (2theLion.blogspot.com) for updates! Also, be sure to see our football analysis on the football blog (2thelionfootball.blogspot.com).

PENN STATE v purdue
Penn State is back home on October 29th to celebrate Homecoming 2005 and hit the field against the Purdue Boilermakers.

And we head up to Penn State for the 2nd Diesel Tailgate of the season! DDT6 - Homecoming-ween! Come dressed in your favorite Blue and White costume, or as your favorite Penn State personality, symbol or tradition. Please note that the Boilermakers' colors are Black and Gold - so please save the Steelers' Fan and Pedestrian Crossing Sign costumes for another occasion. Please check out the Diesel website (see links page) for tons more information about the tailgate.

Game time is 3:30pm - which means the gates open at 8am.  We're heading out to the stadium at 6:45am so the "convoy" will be in line when the gates open.

We will be tailgating in Lot 13 or Lot 12 (see map), as close to the front of the lot(s) as possible. As this is Homecoming, we can expect a big crowd so check for traffic reports.

If you can't be at the game be sure to tune into ABC for the broadcast and help cheer the Lions on to victory!

PENN STATE v. osu

Howdy y'all!  It's time for some down home football and some down home cookin'!

The Ohio State Buckeyes travel to Penn State on October 8th.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:45pm and ESPN will broadcast the game.  It's a late kickoff which leaves tons of time for tailgating Lion "Country" style!

Because we have the whole day to tailgate - we plan to take full advantage by serving breakfast (brunch) and dinner!  We'll start with eggs and bacon (and ham and sausage and...), biscuits, etc. and then move onto pulled pork, greens, slaw, gumbo, gooey desserts and anything else we can think of!

The Brutus, the buckeye, and the rest of the horse chestnuts, wear Scarlett and Gray.  Penn State enters this game 5 - 0 with their best start in 6 seasons.

Parking lots open at 8am, yes, 8am, and, yes, we will be there when the gates open!

GO LIONS!!!!!

Oktoberfest 2005!

It's that time again! Oktoberfest Tailgate! PSU squares off against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday, October 1st at 3:30 pm. It's the last weekend of the festival in Munchen and we're going to celebrate with pork, brats und beer!!!

The lots open at 8am and we'll be waiting in line to get in - we will park in Lot 13 (see map below) - as close to the front as possible.

The Golden Gophers' colors are Maroon and Gold - The Gophers have won the last 4 match-ups - so it's time for a change - if you can't make it to the game, be sure to watch on ABC and cheer the Lions on to victory!

Accuweather's current forecast is partly sunny with a high of 63 - but we'll have to keep an eye on Rita and hope that she doesn't show up!

PENN STATE vs Cincinnati

On Saturday, September 10th, the Lions face the Bearcats of Cincinnati. Kick-off is scheduled for 12pm and the parking lots open at 7am. Per usual, Suzanne and I plan to be there early!

Yum Yum delicioso! We're planning a Fiesta! tailgate with chicken mojo, beef burritos, taco dip, and all the fixings.

The Bearcats sport red and black uniforms and are the Lions' second Big East opponent this year.

We'll be parking in Lot 13 - as close to the front of the lot as possible.

As always, all are welcome. We just ask that you send us an email so we can prepare accordingly. If you'd like to be added to our email list, please email us at coach@2thelion.com - and check the WebLog (2theLion.blogspot.com) for updates! Also, be sure to see our football analysis on the football blog (2thelionfootball.blogspot.com).

Hope to see you there - To the Lion!

PENN STATE vs South Florida

It's the first game AND tailgate of the season! Penn State hosts the South Florida Rams on September 3rd at 3:30pm. Parking lots open at 8:00am and we're planning to be there, waiting in line when they open the gates!

Colors to avoid this week are green and gold - so break out the silver accessories!

In France, "cave" is a general term for a wine cellar - so we're going to have a "Cave au Lion"!  We'll be serving a sampling of wines from the Shenandoah Valley (purchased during a trip to the region this summer) along with complimentary fare with a French flare.

This year we will be parking in Lot 13 or Lot 12 (see map below), as close to the front of the lot(s) as possible. Take note that football parking has been affected by the baseball park construction. Lot 13, according to the "plans", has not been altered as a result - but the traffic flow and volume may change.

As always, all are welcome.  We'll be sending out our "regular" email a little closer to gameday; if you'd like to be added to our email list, please email us at coach@2thelion.com - and check our blogs (2theLion.blogspot.com AND 2theLionfootball.blogspot.com) for updates!

Hope to see you there - To the Lion!
